GRAYS OF KILSYTH offers boxed selections of salmon flies, trout
flies, sea trout flies, spinheads and, new for 2008, a range of fine stainless steel needle
tubes for fly tying. The spinheads and needle tubes are hand
made in Scotland by Grays of Kilsyth, while the trout flies and sea trout flies are
supplied by the old and well established Scottish firm of Napier and Craig,
who have supplied quality trout and salmon flies to the Scottish fishing
tackle trade since 1880.
The boxed selections of salmon flies are now tied to my specification by Andy
Farquhar, a gifted Scottish fly dresser currently living in
England.

A boxed selection of twenty popular modern Scottish salmon flies
including Ally's Shrimp and Cascade in various colours. Also
includes the Magus and Black Boar salmon flies. Each salmon fly
selection is presented in either a practical plastic fly box or in a
traditional aluminium Richard Wheatley foam lined fly box.

In contrast to the
traditional fly selections, we offer a Needle Fly Kit, to enable the fly
tier to make his own needle flies for salmon and sea trout fishing. This is
a new fishing fly design devised primarily for sea trout (sewin) fishing but
it has also proved to be effective for salmon fly fishing. The kit comes
complete with two sample needle flies, essential components and
instructions.
FLY FISHING SIDELINES
In this section I hope to
publish items of interest to the fly fisher, based on my experience of fly
fishing in Scotland. Please visit from time to time as I intend to add items
on a regular basis.
I list here information
on the fly fishing waters of Scotland which I have fished over a number of
years. I list only rivers and lochs where the fishing is predominantly
natural i.e. fly fishing waters containing a wild, indigenous stock of game
fish, including brown trout, sea trout, salmon and grayling.
